Custom domain attached to inaccessible tenant

I am requesting assistance to remove a custom domain that is currently attached to a Microsoft 365 / Entra ID tenant to which we no longer have administrative access.

The tenant was originally created and managed using an administrative account that has since been disabled due to inactivity. As a result, we no longer have access to that account and are unable to sign in to the tenant or remove the domain through normal administrative means.

However, we remain the legal owner of the domain and have full control over its DNS configuration through our domain registrar. We are fully able to add or modify DNS records to prove domain ownership if required.

The domain needs to be removed from the inaccessible tenant so that it can be reused or properly assigned to our current Microsoft 365 tenant.

Please let us know the verification steps required (e.g., adding a TXT record) so we can proceed with domain ownership validation and domain release.

Hello KL,

This issue will be resolved by signing in using the tenant-specific Azure portal URL and the tenant ID along with email address that I have provided over the private messages tab:

https://portal.azure.com/<tenant-ID>

Once you accessed the portal through the tenant-scoped URL, the tenant became active again and you will be able to remove custom domain from it without further issues.

And the tenant will be restored successfully.
