Our organization received approval for the Azure Nonprofit $2,000 annual grant.

The grant appears as approved and active in the Microsoft Nonprofit Hub

(valid from 28/02/2026 to 28/02/2027).

During activation, I clicked the activation link from the approval email and signed in using our nonprofit admin account.

However, during the activation process:

  • I was prompted to enter payment details.
  • A standard Microsoft Azure Plan (Pay-As-You-Go) subscription was created.
  • No Azure Sponsorship subscription was created.

Current situation:

"This account does not have an active Sponsorship."

  • No Azure credits are visible under Billing.
  • The grant still appears as active in the Nonprofit Hub.

It appears that the activation flow created a Pay-As-You-Go subscription instead of provisioning the Azure Sponsorship subscription.

We are unable to open a normal Azure support case specific to Sponsorship because no Sponsorship subscription exists in the tenant.

This seems to be a backend provisioning issue where the Sponsorship offer was approved but not attached to the tenant.

Could a Microsoft engineer please escalate this to the Azure Sponsorship / Nonprofit Benefits backend team to verify the Offer ID provisioning?

Thank you.

Hello Yannick G

This is a backend provisioning issue where the Azure Nonprofit Sponsorship offer was approved but not successfully attached to the tenant during activation. As a result, a Pay‑As‑You‑Go subscription was created instead of an Azure Sponsorship subscription. Since Sponsorship subscriptions cannot be created or converted manually, this requires escalation to the Microsoft Nonprofit / Azure Sponsorship backend team to verify and reprovision the offer.

You can follow below steps to open support case:

As per the steps shared above Azure Request to Billing team has been created and an internal Sponsorship Team was engaged for further assistance.

Thanks,
Suchitra.
