thanks Harold for taking time to answer my question. I have tried to access one drive on the safari browser but the only fields appearing after using the "i" is image type, dimensions, modified date, file path (chemin d'accès in french) and size of the file. When I open onedrive on my computer, the photos are opening in windows photos app and the "i" information is more complete with the legend. So I guess it would not be difficult to make this field appearing on line also. Let me know if I did well and what you are thinking !
Thanks
Claude
Hi Claude,
Currently, the OneDrive mobile apps for iOS and iPadOS do not support displaying photo captions or descriptions that are stored in metadata or added via the web interface.
Even though:
Captions can be added via OneDrive on the web,
Metadata like EXIF or IPTC is present in the photo file,
And desktop apps may show this info,
…the mobile apps simply don’t render these fields. This appears to be a design limitation, not a bug.
What You Can Do
Use OneDrive Web on Your iPad
You can still view and edit captions by:
Opening Safari or Chrome on your iPad
Going to https://onedrive.live.com
Tapping the photo and selecting the “i” (Info) icon
Viewing or editing the description field
This workaround gives you access to the metadata that the app doesn’t show.
Submit Feedback to Microsoft
Microsoft does review user feedback for future updates. You can:
Open the OneDrive app
Go to Settings > Help & Feedback > Send Feedback
Clearly explain that the lack of caption visibility affects accessibility, organization, and usability The more users request this, the more likely it is to be prioritized.
Let me know how it goes, Happy to help!
