I understand how inconvenient it must be to encounter issues when creating learning cards and providing direct feedback in the new Learning Activities feature. 

According to Microsoft’s documentation, there are a few common reasons why Learning Activities, especially Flashcards, may not generate properly: 

• Not enough content: Flashcards need at least 240 characters of text. If the content you paste or upload is too short, the cards won’t be created. 
• Unsupported file types: Flashcards can only be made from pasted text, Word (.docx) or PDF files. Other formats or incomplete uploads may cause errors. 
• Permission limitations: Learning Activities and Flashcards are designed for educators in Teams for Education. If your account doesn’t have educator permissions, some features may be restricted.  

Please see the following workarounds that will help you verify the issue:   

Option 1: Ensure your input meets requirements 
Flashcards require at least 240 characters of text to generate. If the content you paste or upload is shorter, the system will not create cards. 

Option 2: Use supported file types 

Upload a Word (.docx) or PDF file if pasting text is not working. 

Try editing or enhancing the card set after generation. 
Once cards generate, you can edit, delete, rearrange, or “Enhance with AI”. 

Option 3: Verify your account role in Teams 

Open Microsoft Teams. 

Go to your Class Team. 

Select More options (…) > Manage team. 

Look under the Members tab.  

If your name appears under Members instead of Owners, the system treats you as a student. 
In this case, please contact your class team owner to update your role.

Option 4: Reaching out your IT admin  

If the issue still persists, please reach out to your school’s IT administrator to review your account configuration. They are the only ones with the necessary permissions to manage licenses and roles. 

You can share the following information with them: 

• Verify your account license 

Sign in to the Microsoft 365 admin center using an admin account. 

Navigate to Users > Active users, then locate your account. 

Select Licenses and apps and confirm that your account has an education license assigned. 

If the license is already assigned, try unassigning it and reassigning it.

• Contact Microsoft Support 

If your account license has already been verified but you still cannot create learning cards, I recommend that your IT administrator contact Microsoft Support for further assistance.   

A technical support engineer can perform a remote session to investigate the situation, verify the backend configurations, and run any necessary synchronization tools to resolve the problem. If the issue requires further attention, they can escalate it to a specialized team for deeper analysis.     

For the best result, please kindly ask your IT administrator to submit a support ticket through the Microsoft 365 admin center > Support > Help & Support so the issue can be examined further.
