is alt + 0178 on the numeric keyboard

Find a symbol for a superscript 2 and use that one instead.

##0" m²"

Enter =CHAR(178) somewhere in your spreadsheet. I believe that would be =MERKKI(178) in Finnish.

Copy/Paste Values and then copy the character into the custom format.
