External monitor does not have signal after waking laptop from sleep

Hello,

I have the following issue: when I start my laptop, the laptop connects normally to my external HDMI screen, no issues. When I leave my laptop and put it to sleep (or when it goes automatically sleep) and then wake my laptop from sleep, it cannot connect to external monitor: "no cable connected".

Issue gets fixed after shutting laptop down and booting it up again.

What I have tried (with no effect to problem):

  • Tried 3x different monitors (4K Lenovo monitors, 1080p Benq monitors)
  • Unplugging and plugging HDMI back
  • Testing the HDMI cable with another laptop (hdmi cable is working)
  • Re-installing the GPU drivers with Nvidia Experience
  • Restarting the GPU with Windows key + Ctrl + Shift + B

However, I figured out a tricky workaround to this issue.

I can fix this issue by going to "device management" and finding "display adapter" and then right-clicking on it and "delete device". That seems to restart my external Quadro GPU. By doing that, the signal is back to external monitor without having to restart the laptop.

I would like to have my laptop working properly without gimmicks. To me, this seems like GPU (driver) related issue? I have just no idea how to fix it permanently. since my workaround works for the current session, and issue comes always back every day when I put laptop to sleep.
