Azure for Students: educator account cannot renew after previous use – “Unable to renew Azure for Students"

Scenario: I’m a Vocational Training (FP) teacher at a public school in Spain, using my institutional account from the regional education department (@edu.gva.es domain). Two academic years ago I activated Azure for Students with this account without any issue and used it to prepare lab exercises for my students. That subscription expired and I did not renew it at the time.

Result: When I now try to sign up or renew at https://signup.azure.com/studentverification?offerType=1, I get: “Unable to renew Azure for Students. Try again shortly or contact us.” (screenshot attached)

Troubleshooting done:

• Tried in a private browser window, signed in only with the institutional account
• Tried the sign-up flow from azure.microsoft.com/free/students
• Checked the Azure portal: no active or disabled subscriptions are listed
• Opened Help + support: only an AI agent was available, which suggested that the renewal window has passed and that the offer cannot be reused on this account

Question: Is it really impossible to reactivate Azure for Students on an account that already used it once and missed the renewal window? If so, which Azure academic offer is currently available for educators/faculty (not students) to get Azure credits for teaching purposes?
