Subject: Copilot in Excel shows "daily limit reached" on Mac and Excel web, but works elsewhere on the same account

Hello,

I have a personal Microsoft 365 subscription and Copilot in Excel has been showing the "daily limit reached" error for several days, every time I use it.

What happens:

•	Fails in Excel for Mac (MacBook Pro 2018, macOS Sequoia) and also in Excel for the web, even with a new empty workbook.

•	Works with the same account in Excel for iPad and in Word on the same Mac.

•	The email address is the same on all devices.

•	I did a clean reinstall: erased the disk, reinstalled macOS and Office, and signed in again.

Since it fails on the web too and works on other devices, this looks like an account/entitlement or AI-credit status problem on the server side, not a local one. Could you please check my account's Copilot entitlement and AI-credit status and reset or fix it for Excel?

Thank you.

Language note: Although the local post is es-es (Spanish), your question is written in English so the answer is given in English for your convenience.

Hello Andres,

Since the same message appears in Excel for the web and Copilot still works in Word and on the iPad, this suggests that Excel may have reached a feature-specific limit or may be receiving an incorrect usage or entitlement status.

Here are some suggestions you can try:

  • Sign out of any additional personal, work, or school accounts in Excel, restart the app, and sign back in only with the account that owns the subscription.
  • Check your Microsoft 365 subscription and AI usage. Limits can vary depending on the plan, feature, and where Copilot is being used. You can check the status of your limits and AI credits by selecting Services & subscriptions in your Microsoft account.
  • As a test, try switching between Chat, Plan, and Edit modes in Copilot for Excel to check whether the limit affects only a specific feature or mode.

You can also contact Microsoft Support and ask them to check the Copilot entitlement and AI-credit status for Excel. Since this is a user-to-user forum, we cannot inspect or reset the account’s usage information. We can only share suggestions based on our observations and personal experiences.

Here's how to reach out to the Microsoft Support Team (live chat):

  1.  Go to: https://support.microsoft.com/home/contact
  2. In the search box, enter a short description of your issue, then choose "Get Help"
  3. Scroll down and select Sign in to contact support (please sign in using a personal Microsoft account). Then follow the on-screen prompts to reach Support Team.

Tips:

  • Support chat availability may vary by country/region, product, and support hours. If you can't get in touch with a chat agent right away, trying again later or at a different time may help.
  • If the support page directs you to the automated assistant, type “I need a live agent” in the chat.

Hopefully your issue will be sorted out soon. Thank you so much for your patience!
