Hello,

My personal Microsoft account was recently compromised. The attacker changed my password, removed my original security information and replaced my original Gmail address with an unfamiliar Outlook alias.

When I try to sign in using my original email, Microsoft says that the account does not exist. I have already attempted the account recovery form, but my request was unsuccessful.

I mainly used this account for Minecraft Java Edition and Minecraft Bedrock. I purchased my Minecraft Java license through Eneba in May 2026 and redeemed it directly into this Microsoft account.

I still have access to the original security notification emails, screenshots showing the unauthorized changes, the new alias added by the attacker, and my purchase receipt.

Could a Microsoft account specialist please advise me on the correct procedure to investigate this case and recover my original account?

I understand that the community cannot directly access or restore accounts, but I would appreciate guidance on the next steps.

Thank you for your help.

I am so sorry this happened. Microsoft has three different account recovery forms with similar names but completely different URLs. Each form is intended for a different situation.

Since this is not a simple "forgot password" case, I believe you may need the Recover My Account form.

However, I would like you to go through Microsoft's Sign-in Helper first to make sure you are using the correct form.

    https://aka.ms/SignInHelper

This is an interactive tool that covers different account sign-in and recovery scenarios. Based on your answers, it will guide you to the appropriate recovery process.

Please let me know if it directs you to the Recover My Account form.

If it does, here are a few important things to keep in mind when completing the form:

Contact email: Use an email address you currently have access to. This is where Microsoft can contact you regarding your request.

Response time: A response may take around 72 hours, although this is not guaranteed. Please save this to your safe sender: [email protected]

Date of birth: Pay close attention to the required date format. This is an area where users sometimes make mistakes.

Account information: Provide as much accurate information as possible. If you genuinely don't know an answer, it is better to leave it blank if allowed rather than guess.

Device and location: If possible, complete the form using a computer, Wi-Fi network, and location you normally use to access your account. This may help Microsoft recognize your usual sign-in activity.

    ============================

Also, to avoid any misunderstanding or false expectations, I'm an independent community user. I can help you navigate and make sure you are using the right tool/resources, but I don't have access to your account and cannot manually recover or unblock it. The final decision is made by the account security review team, so I cannot guarantee the outcome.

Microsoft Support also cannot bypass the required account verification or reinstatement process.

Lastly, please don't share any passwords, verification codes, or other private account information here, as this is a public forum.
