Hello Microsoft Support,

I'm trying to register for Azure for Students, but the university selection field is not working.

I tested the following requests:

  • countryCode=AR&schoolNameHint=Universidad Tecnologica Nacional

countryCode=US&schoolNameHint=Harvard

Both requests return HTTP 200 OK with an empty JSON array ([]).

As a result, the university dropdown never displays any suggestions, and the input field clears when it loses focus.

Technical details:

Endpoint: /api/studentverification/GetSchoolsByCountry

Browser: Opera GX

Date: October 15, 2026

Request ID: 270a5c0caa2fce508d7a6abf3b069479

Could you please investigate whether the university lookup service is experiencing an issue?

    Hi Ramiro,

    Since both requests return an empty array, I would first check whether the issue is related to the browser or to the university lookup service itself.

    I would suggest trying the registration process in Microsoft Edge or Chrome, preferably in a private window, with extensions disabled. Also, clear the browser cache and try again.

    If the issue persists across different browsers and with universities in different countries, it may be a backend issue with the school lookup service rather than a problem with your input.

    Since you already have the request ID and have tested multiple countries, I recommend including those details when contacting Azure for Students support so they can investigate the request on their side.

    You can start here: https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/support/

    Hope this helps!
