Microsoft Fabric capacity not available in South Central US — quota constraint blocking XMLA endpoint

I need to create a Microsoft Fabric capacity (F2 SKU) in South Central US region, but the option is unavailable in the Azure Portal.

Situation:

  • My Power BI tenant is permanently assigned to South Central US (cannot be changed)
  • I created an F2 capacity in Central US as a workaround, but it fails with error: "LargeModelMovedAcrossRegions" when using the XMLA endpoint
  • The capacity must match the tenant region for XMLA to work
  • I have an open support ticket: SR#*removed PII

Question:

Is Fabric capacity quota exhausted in South Central US? Is there an ETA for availability in that region?

This is blocking a production workload using Power BI MCP Server + XMLA endpoint.

    Hi

    Welcome to the Microsoft Azure

Based on your description, the error occurs because the F2 capacity must be in the same region as the Power BI tenant, in your case, the South Central US. Since the region doesn't appear in the Azure portal, there are strong indications of a temporary incapacity issue or a lack of regional quota/capacity. As there is already an open support ticket, the best course of action is to wait for a response from a Microsoft engineer.
