Hello pls. I need help i have a surface book 2 computer that i cannot log in, to access windows

It had issues in the past so i decided to reset it with an iso image and used a temporal account everything ok, but i left this computer to gatter dust without use for a very long time and now i do not remember the password, i tried to recover acces to the microsoft account but the ask for a lot of info to recover it and i probable even used fake data just to go fast on the account creation (i never thought i would later need to recover it). I triet to download an iso image with the device serial number and burn it into a usb to factory reset it again but its not working, the usb is not read when i do the restart. What should i do?

I just need to change the logging account to my principal microsoft account, to gain access to windows. How do i do it.

hello, somehow i managed to log in BUT NOT BY RESETING... nothing was working, i entered the recovery menu tried every option but it was simply doing nothing, redownloaded the surfacebook image with serial number prepared the usb with the windows built in "recovery unit creation tool" i tried downloading the surface toolkit but it has NO SUPPORT for older devices. only surfacebook 3 and surface pro 7 mine is surfacebook 2, every single option on the recovery menu took me to the normal windows logging screen or simply triggered no action, or just took me back to the previous menu. so i was stuck.

this is how i got to log in:

i was able to log into the computer after a last desperated attempt writting as many old passwords and variations i could remember and while i was doing so, i got gatcha security images and after a while i got a "we are going to secure your account, add a backup email to get a pin and reset your password" i added my main account and problem solved.... not sure if i run lucky and entered the correct password.... but managed to reset it.

(what i am having trouble now is i am not getting the base gpu detected but i am working on it, different topic. downloading firmwares and updates.) thanks for the help.

I can see your device locale is set to Spanish (es‑es), but since you’re using English, I’ll continue assisting in English. Please let me know if you’d prefer to switch languages.

    Hi VICTOR aravena leal,

I’m sorry to hear you’re having trouble accessing your Surface Book 2.

Based on what you’ve described, since the password for the current account isn’t known and account recovery may not be possible, the most reliable solution is to reset the device and set it up again with your primary Microsoft account. Please note that a full reset will remove all personal files and settings.

If recovery isn’t successful, you can try resetting the device through the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE). To access it, turn the Surface off, then power it on and interrupt the startup (hold the power button to shut it down) as Windows begins loading. Repeat this about three times until the recovery screen appears. From there, go to Troubleshoot > Reset this PC > Remove everything.

If the recovery screen does not appear, the next option is to use a USB recovery drive. For Surface devices, it’s important to follow the exact boot sequence. First, make sure the device is fully shut down and only the recovery USB is connected. Then press and hold the Volume Down button, and while holding it, press and release the Power button. Continue holding Volume Down until the Surface logo appears and spinning dots show, then release.

If the device still does not boot from the USB, please ensure the USB has been properly created as a bootable recovery drive (simply copying an ISO file will not work) and that it is formatted as FAT32. You can also check the Surface UEFI settings (hold Volume Up + Power) to confirm that booting from USB is enabled and USB storage is prioritized.

Once the recovery USB is detected successfully, you can follow the on-screen instructions to reset and reinstall Windows.

To help us narrow this down further, could you please let me know what exactly happens when you try to boot from the USB (for example, no logo appears, it loops or it ignores the USB) and how you created the USB drive? This will help me identify what might be preventing the device from booting properly.
