I am unable to enroll in Windows 10 Extended Security Updates (ESU).

System details:

  • Windows 10 Pro, version 22H2
  • Latest cumulative updates installed, including KB5071959
  • Microsoft account signed in
  • Account has administrator privileges

Exact error message:

“We can’t enroll you in Extended Security Updates at this time.”

Steps already tried:

  • Installed KB5071959 and all prerequisite updates
  • Verified Microsoft account sign-in (no sign-in issues)
  • Confirmed admin account
  • No work or school accounts connected
  • Find my device toggled off/on with reboots
  • Multiple retries across different days

The issue persists.

This matches the known ESU backend enrollment sync issue affecting some Microsoft accounts/devices.

Requesting guidance on account/device re-synchronization or manual ESU eligibility validation.

Quizá debas plantearte intentar realizar una mejora in situ.

    https://www.microsoft.com/software-download/windows10

Hi John, thank you for your response and willingness to help.

I appreciate the suggestions, however I’d like to clarify that:

    • There are no sign-in issues with my Microsoft account.
    • The system is fully updated and functioning correctly.
    • This same error persists even after installing KB5071959, which was released specifically to address ESU enrollment failures.

Multiple users are experiencing this identical issue, and Microsoft has acknowledged it as a backend ESU enrollment sync problem affecting certain accounts/devices.

Since all local troubleshooting has been exhausted, this likely requires escalation or backend re-synchronization rather than system-level fixes.

I’d appreciate it if a Microsoft moderator could review and advise on the next steps.
