Hi Navidad,
Wouldn't downloading Windows 11 be enough?
Hi,
Thank you for sharing your question. It's a pain when a game like Batman: Arkham Asylum GOTY Edition crashes right after you launch it on Windows 11.
Usually, Arkham Asylum crashes on newer versions of Windows because it needs some older stuff that isn't there or turned on by default, like DirectX 9, NVIDIA PhysX (the old 9.09 version), Visual C++ 2005, .NET 3.5, and sometimes Games for Windows LIVE (GFWL). Plus, Windows 11 can be a bit weird with older games. Usually, installing the game's extra software, turning on .NET 3.5, and making a few changes to how the game launches can fix things.
Here's how to do it
Install DirectX 9 and the old PhysX from the game's redist folder, then check the files in Steam. This fixes issues with missing DX9 files and old PhysX things. You can find DXSETUP.exe in ...\Steam\steamapps\common\Batman Arkham Asylum GOTY\redist\DIRECTX\ and PhysX_9.08.14_9.09.0814_SystemSoftware.exe in ...\redist\. You can also run vcredist_x86.exe for VC++ 2005 if you want.
Turn on .NET Framework 3.5 in Windows Features (or install it even if you are offline) because the game's launcher and tools might freak out without it. If you saw any .NET errors, turning on 3.5 should stop many of those crashes.
Here are a couple of extra things you might want to try:
Use Steam to check the game files after installing the extra software. You can also try setting Steam to Offline mode before launching the game if the overlays are causing problems.
Keep your GPU drivers updated. Old drivers can make the stability problems even worse.
I hope this helps.
Best Regards,
Noel
