Hello,

I'm testing the Send from alias functionality on Outlook and it works great. What I have seen, is that on Mac OS when you select the From dopdrown > Another email and type the alias, it works, but when sent and going to another new email, you need to type it again.

Tested it on a Windows client and works fine, the typed alias is persistent after sending the email and I can select it the next time instead of typing it again.

Is this a bug with the latest updates ?

    Hi Bernat Ferràndiz

Thank you for posting your question in the Q&A Forum with your detailed feedback on the "Send from Alias" functionality in the New Outlook for Mac.

Following the steps you provided, I also observed that a manually entered alias in the "From" field is not retained in the dropdown menu for subsequent emails. As a distinct application that is still being actively developed, its functionality can differ from the Windows client.

If the alias you are using is a shared mailbox or another account for which you have "Send As" permissions, you can consider adding it directly to your Outlook profile as a Shared or Delegated Mailbox. This is the most stable solution.

Or you can use macOS Text Replacement as a workaround. For any alias you need to type frequently, this method creates a system-wide keyboard shortcut to quickly insert the address.

To use Text Replacement, you can follow these steps:

    • Open System Settings on your Mac and navigate to Keyboard > Text Replacements... and then the (+) icon. Imagen del usuario
    • In the Replace field, enter a short-hand code and in the With field, enter the full alias email address. In a new Outlook email, you can now type your shortcut followed by the spacebar to automatically populate the "From" field.

Additionally, one of the most effective ways to help us prioritize a permanent solution is to share your experience directly with the engineers who build Outlook. They genuinely read the feedback that comes in, and hearing from users like you is what helps them decide what to work on next. Your feedback is incredibly valuable, and the best way to ensure it reaches the right team is by submitting it directly through Outlook. You can do this by clicking Help > Feedback in the top-right corner.

I understand this is more of a workaround than a direct solution, but I hope it helps you capture the information you need. If you have any further questions, please feel free to reach out!
