    Hello,

    Thank you for reaching out.

The error code 0x80073712 almost always points to a corrupted or inconsistent Windows Component Store (WinSxS folder). Even though SFC and DISM report no errors, a mismatch can still exist between the system's component manifests and what Windows Update requires to install the new package.

Since the standard repair tools didn't resolve the issue, the component store corruption is likely too deep for them to fix automatically. Here are the most effective solutions.

    1. Perform an In-Place Upgrade (Repair Install)
    • Obtain the official ISO file for Windows Server 2025, ensuring it is the same build or newer.
    • Right-click the ISO file and select Mount. This will create a virtual DVD drive.
    • Open the virtual drive and run setup.exe.
    • In the installation wizard, proceed until you reach the "Choose what to keep" screen. Make sure to select Keep personal files and apps.
    • Your server will restart several times.

After the in-place upgrade is complete, try running Windows Update again.

    1. Run DISM with a Source Image

You can force DISM to use the installation files from the ISO as a clean source for repairs.

    • Mount the ISO as described above
    • Open Command Prompt as Administrator.
    • Run the following command, replacing D: with the drive letter of your mounted ISO:
    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:WIM:D:\sources\install.wim:1 /LimitAccess

    • Once completed, run sfc /scannow again and then try Windows Update.

    Best regards.
