Can't locate an invoice

I received an email regarding a declined payment for an invoice. I can't locate the invoice from Microsoft on my billing page. I not even sure what the $13.48 charge is for. This invoice was declined because of suspicious activity on my Apple credit card. I changed the card number, but I'm unable to find the invoice. How do I locate the invoice?

Do not use the payment link in the email; open Microsoft’s billing pages directly, search the order history for every Microsoft account you use, and then check Apple billing only if the subscription was purchased through Apple.

    1. Check whether the invoice email is genuine

An unexpected invoice can be phishing. Do not open its attachments, follow its links, or enter payment information. Instead, open a new browser tab and navigate independently to your Microsoft account. Microsoft recommends this approach for suspicious messages.^1^

Also inspect the sender’s full address for misspellings or a non-Microsoft domain. An invoice for a purchase you did not make is a recognized phishing pattern.^2^

    2. Search personal Microsoft billing records

    1. Sign in directly to account.microsoft.com/billing/orders.
    2. Select Payment & billing > Order history.
    3. Under Refine, expand the date range around the date in the email.
    4. Check orders marked In progress, Completed, or Redeemed. A declined or incomplete payment might not yet appear as a completed charge.
    5. Open Order details for a matching $13.48 item. Use Print if you need an invoice copy.^3^

Repeat this with any other Microsoft accounts you use. Purchases appear only under the account used for the order.

For a tax invoice, open Order detail > Tax invoice. Personal-account tax invoices are not immediate and can take 48 hours to five days to become available.^4^

    3. Investigate the unidentified amount

    If no order matches:

    1. Open the Microsoft account Manage your payments page.
    2. Select Investigate beside the unrecognized charge.
    3. Check whether it relates to recurring billing, a family member’s purchase, a previously declined payment being retried, or an in-app purchase.

These are among the documented reasons a charge may not initially be recognized.^5^

    4. Check whether Apple—not Microsoft—issued the bill

Using an Apple Card does not by itself mean Apple handled the purchase. However, if Microsoft 365 or another subscription was purchased through an iPhone, iPad, or the Apple App Store, Apple manages its billing and it may not have a Microsoft invoice.

Check the subscription under your Apple ID settings. Microsoft subscriptions bought through Apple must be managed through Apple; Microsoft cannot change their payment method, cancel them, or issue their refunds.[^6^](https://support.microsoft.com/accounts-billing/subscriptions/[Subscription ID] "Where can I manage my Microsoft 365 subscription? | Microsoft Support")

If this is a work or business account

An administrator or user with billing access should:

    1. Sign in to the Microsoft 365 admin center.
    2. Go to Billing > Bills and payments.
    3. Select the invoice and download its PDF.

Work-account invoices are typically available within 48 hours after the payment method is charged.^4^

If the charge still cannot be identified

Contact Microsoft Support through the official support page, enter billing, select Get Help, and then Contact Support. Billing details should not be posted in this public forum.^5^

Since the Apple Card number has already been changed, do not change it again solely because of this email. If Microsoft and Apple both have no matching transaction—or if an actual unauthorized charge appears on the card statement—contact the card issuer to report and investigate it.
