You can type the keyword Outlook in the search on the taskbar, and see what's shown up.

You can tell by the logo (see example below). Plus, Classic Outlook would have the word "Classic" with it.

On Windows, the quickest way to tell is the top-right corner of the Outlook window:

    • New Outlook: shows a Settings gear icon in the top right.
    • Classic Outlook: does not show that Settings button, and instead has a File tab.

    More signs:

    • New Outlook ribbon typically shows Home, View, and Help.
    • Classic Outlook includes the File tab, where account info, product version, and Outlook Options are available.

To check the exact version number in New Outlook:

    1. Select Settings.
    2. Go to General > About Outlook.
    3. The version information appears on the right.

If the app shows a Try the new Outlook toggle in the upper-right corner of classic Outlook, that means the current app is classic Outlook, and the toggle is offering the switch to new Outlook.
