    Hi Jahin,

Please don’t reconnect with this person yet. What you describe matches a very common tech support scam. Microsoft doesn’t make unsolicited calls to fix your computer, and real Microsoft error messages never show a phone number to call. Scammers often say “the download will take a while, reconnect later” so they can get back into your PC.

If you need help from Microsoft, use only these official channels:

    1. Get Help app (Windows 10/11): Click Start, type Get Help, and open the app. Describe your problem. If the suggestions don’t solve it, select Contact Support and choose the product. The contact options available (chat or callback) depend on the product and your region.
    2. Microsoft Support website: Go to https://support.microsoft.com/contactus, sign in with your Microsoft account, and follow the steps to reach an agent.

Never use a phone number from a pop-up, an ad, or a search result. Many of those numbers are fake.

Because this person had control of your PC, please also do this:

    1. Disconnect the PC from the internet (turn off Wi-Fi or unplug the cable).
    2. Go to Settings > Apps > Installed apps and sort by install date. Uninstall anything installed during the session that you don’t recognize, especially remote access tools like AnyDesk, TeamViewer, or UltraViewer.
    3. Open Windows Security > Virus & threat protection > Scan options and run a Microsoft Defender Offline scan.
    4. From another device (for example, your phone), change the passwords for your email, banking, and Microsoft account.
    5. If you paid them anything, contact your bank right away.
    6. Report the scam at https://www.microsoft.com/reportascam

How did you first get in touch with this “Microsoft contact”? Did they call you, or did you call a number you found somewhere? And what was your original problem? Let me know and I’ll help you with the next steps.
