Using Microsoft Teams on macOS, including installation, features, and compatibility
Since cache clearing and signing out/in were already tried, the next supported checks are:
- Verify the Mac date and time are correct.
- Incorrect date/time can block secure sign-in and make Microsoft 365 apps appear offline.
- In macOS, turn on automatic date and time, then try Teams again.
- Confirm basic connectivity in a browser.
- Open any website to verify the connection is working.
- If Teams desktop still fails, try the Teams web app at https://teams.microsoft.com/.
- If the web app works, the problem is likely isolated to the desktop client.
- If a VPN is in use, turn it off and back on.
- Teams connection issues can be caused by VPN routing problems.
- Fully quit Teams and retry.
- On Mac, right-click the Teams icon and choose Quit, or force quit it, then reopen and sign in again.
- Reinstall Teams.
- If sign-out and cache clearing did not help, uninstall Teams from the Mac and then reinstall it.
- If Teams on the web also does not load in Safari, check Safari privacy settings.
- Go to Preferences > Privacy.
- Clear Prevent cross-site tracking.
- Close Safari, reopen it, and try Teams again.
- If the error includes a status code, use it to narrow the cause:
- 0xCAA82EE2 or 0xCAA70007: connection interrupted or timed out. Internet access may be fine generally, but another app, proxy, or firewall may be blocking Teams.
- 0xCAA82EE7: server name could not be resolved.
- 0xCAA20003: authorization problem often caused by incorrect date/time.
- If the issue started suddenly and affects both desktop and web, check for a service incident.
- Microsoft suggests checking the Microsoft 365 status account on X for known issues.
- If the problem continues, involve the IT admin.
- Some sign-in failures are caused by Microsoft Entra ID or organization authentication policy issues that require admin action.
