Microsoft Teams for iOS (bundle com.microsoft.skype.teams, version 8.19.1, build 100772026192401) crashes within about one second of launching.

Symptoms

  • Crash type: EXC_CRASH (SIGABRT), abort() called.
  • After uninstalling and reinstalling, the app opens a few times and then crashes again.
  • Still crashes on cellular data, so it is not tied to Wi-Fi or a proxy.
  • Still crashes after removing a custom root certificate. Both crash reports show roots_installed: 0.

Environment

  • Device 1: iPhone14,4, iOS 26.6 (23G71), crash at 2026-10-29 09:47 (UTC+7)
  • Device 2: iOS 27.2 (24B5084k), crash at 2026-10-29 11:46 (UTC+7)
  • Teams 8.19.1 on both. The accounts are work accounts and the devices may be managed by Intune.

Evidence The two crash reports have the same call stack in Teams’ own code, matching offset for offset: TeamSpaceApp 0xc478478 → 0xc478068 → 0xc4782a0 → 0xc4782ac → 0xc0ba858 → 0x87728bc → 0x87b8afc → 0x87b8bcc → 0xbaa98c, then TeamsCommon 0xbb02b8 → 0xba7114. The faulting thread is a background com.apple.root.default-qos worker. There are no CFNetwork or SecTrust frames, so it does not look like a network or certificate error.

Questions

  1. Is this a known issue in 8.19.1, and is a fix planned?
  2. Has anyone found a workaround other than using Teams on the web?
  3. Could an Intune App Protection Policy change trigger this?

Hi @Bui Hai

Based on my research, I couldn't find any publicly available information confirming this as a known issue in Teams for iOS version 8.19.1, nor could I find a confirmed workaround for this specific crash.

If these devices are managed by your organization, you may want to check with your IT administrator whether any Intune App Protection Policy, app configuration, or Conditional Access changes were made around the time the issue started. Comparing the policies applied to the affected devices may help determine whether there is any correlation.

Please note that this is a user-to-user support forum. I do not have access to Microsoft's internal systems and cannot confirm the existence of internal bug reports or planned fixes. I can only provide guidance based on publicly available information.

Since you've already tried several troubleshooting steps and the issue persists, contacting Microsoft Support would be the best next step, as they may be able to provide further assistance.

Thank you for your understanding.
