Please enable folded phone optimization. For folded phones with dual screens, please optimize Teams to be for the full screen as soon as possbile, just like Outlook and other Office applications, and not let Teams fall behind

Dear @ryoko takahashi

I understand your concern, especially when Outlook and other Office apps already use the available screen space more effectively.

Support for new device layouts can depend on both the operating system and each application. Apple controls iOS, while Microsoft controls the layout and behavior of Teams. Microsoft cannot modify Apple’s operating system, but it can improve Teams compatibility where the platform supports it. Different apps may receive these improvements at different times.

I cannot confirm whether this particular issue requires an Apple update, a Teams update, or both, and I do not have a confirmed release date.

For now, I recommend:

  • Install the latest available iOS and Teams updates.
  • In Teams, open Settings > Help & feedback > Send feedback and describe the full-screen behavior you expect.

Include your device model, iOS version, Teams version, and a screenshot with personal information removed.

Reference: Give feedback in Microsoft Teams.

If this is a Surface Duo or Surface Duo 2, enable automatic spanning for Teams under Settings → Surface Duo features → Span apps automatically, or manually drag Teams to the hinge between the screens.

Microsoft lists Teams as a dual-screen–enhanced app on Surface Duo. To use it across both displays:

    1. Open Settings on the Surface Duo.
    2. Select Surface Duo features.
    3. Select Span apps automatically and turn it on.
    4. Enable Microsoft Teams in the app list.
    5. Close and reopen Teams.

Alternatively, open Teams and drag its window to the center hinge to span it manually. This provides the existing two-screen Teams experience, but it does not guarantee that every Teams view will use both displays like Outlook’s inbox-and-message layout. Microsoft’s current documentation demonstrates Teams primarily as a call on one screen alongside another app, while still listing it as dual-screen enhanced.^1^

    Request a Teams layout enhancement

If Teams already spans but does not make effective use of the full area, that is a feature request rather than a setting that can be enabled by a Teams administrator:

    1. In the Teams Android app, tap your profile picture.
    2. Open Settings → Help & feedback.
    3. Select Suggest a feature.
    4. Describe the desired behavior, including:
      • Surface Duo or Duo 2 model
      • Device orientation and folded posture
      • The Teams screen affected, such as meetings, chat, calendar, or channels
      • The preferred layout on each display
      • Screenshots showing the unused or poorly arranged space
    5. Tap Send.^2^

There is no documented user or Teams admin control that changes Teams into an Outlook-style two-pane layout. Also, Teams Rooms’ dual display mode is for dedicated meeting-room hardware and does not apply to the Teams mobile app.

If “iPhone Duo” refers to a different foldable device rather than Microsoft Surface Duo, the exact device model and operating system are needed; the documented Surface Duo features → Span apps automatically setting applies specifically to Surface Duo devices.
