Microsoft Places: Desk booking is declined in Teams Mobile but succeeds in Teams Desktop

We are experiencing a reproducible issue with desk booking in Microsoft Places.

When a user books a desk through the Microsoft Places app in Microsoft Teams on a smartphone, the booking is eventually declined by “Bookable Desk” after a long delay (some hours).

No confirmation or rejection email is sent, and no calendar entry is created. The only indication is a message from “Bookable Desk” in the Teams activity feed.

The same user can book the same desk for the same date and time successfully through the Microsoft Places app in Microsoft Teams on a laptop and the MS Places web.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open Microsoft Teams on a smartphone.
  2. Open the Microsoft Places app.
  3. Select the same building, floor, desk, date and time used in the desktop test.
  4. Submit the desk booking.
  5. Wait for the response.

Expected result:

The desk booking should be confirmed, with a corresponding calendar entry and confirmation notification.

Actual result:

  • No confirmation email is sent.
  • No rejection email is sent.
  • No calendar entry is created.
  • After a significant delay, a message from “Bookable Desk” appears in the Teams activity feed indicating that the booking was declined.

Control test:

  1. Open Microsoft Teams on a laptop.
  2. Open the Microsoft Places app.
  3. Select the same desk, date and time.
  4. Submit the booking.

Result: The booking succeeds and the calendar entry is created.

Environment:

  • Teams Mobile version: 8.19.1
  • Mobile device: iPhone 15
  • Mobile operating system: iOS 27.0.1
  • Teams Desktop version: 26288.2003.5258.9616 & 26276.505.5234.9924

Troubleshooting already performed:

  • Tested the same desk, date and time on Teams Desktop.
  • Confirmed that the booking succeeds on Teams Desktop.
  • Tested the booking through the Places app.
  • MS Places Web App on iPhone is fine
  • removed and re-installed MS Places app within MS Teams

Is this currently a known issue with desk booking through Microsoft Places in Teams Mobile, or is there a recommended workaround or configuration check?

As a temporary workaround, we are booking desks through Teams Desktop, Teams on the web, or MS Places web.

Looking forward to any input.

    Hi Janne,

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A forum.Based on the information you provided, the issue currently appears to occur only when using the Teams app on iPhone and does not occur when using the web version on the same device.

At this time, I have not found any information regarding a known issue where Microsoft Places is unable to book a desk when using the Teams app on iPhone.

To gather more information and better determine the scope of the issue, could you please help me check the following:

    • Besides the user you mentioned in your post, are other iPhone users within the same tenant experiencing the same issue?
    • Does the issue occur only in the Teams app on iPhone, or does it also occur in the Teams app on other operating systems for other users within the same tenant?

Based on the additional information you provide, I can better assist you in identifying the possible cause and determining the most appropriate troubleshooting steps.

I look forward to hearing from you.
