Teams on iPhone cannot find people when adding participants to an ongoing call

Hi,

When I try to add someone to an ongoing voice/video call in Microsoft Teams on my iPhone, the participant search returns no results. It displays a magnifying glass icon and a message indicating that the person could not be found.

Adding the same person from Teams on a computer works successfully using the same account. Other users have also experienced this issue.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Start or join a voice/video call in Teams on an iPhone.
  2. Open the participants list and select the option to add someone.
  3. Search for a person by name.
  4. No matching person is found, although they can be added from the desktop app.

Is this a known issue with Teams on iOS? Is there a fix or a workaround that allows us to add participants directly from the iPhone?

Thanks

Ronen

    Hi @Ronen Sasson

    Thanks for the detailed description.

To better understand the scenario, could you clarify whether this occurs when:

    • A 1:1 Teams call or
    • A call/meeting in a Teams channel? I did some testing on my side and wanted to share the results.

    My findings:

    • When testing in a Teams channel meeting/call, the Add people option does not return the result just like you describe if the person is not a member of that channel. If that person is a member, the contact will show up. As a workaround for channel meetings, you can use Share meeting invitation and have the participant join through the meeting link.

    • When testing a 1:1 call on iOS, the participant search worked correctly when I entered the user's full email address (UPN).

Please let me know whether this is occurring in a 1:1 call, a group call, or a channel meeting so I can reproduce the correct scenario.
