How to sign into my MS account

When I enter my email, the prompt asks for my authenticator code. When I enter it, I get a message saying that this service is out of service*. Also, when I try to use texting as a second form of identification, that is also out of service. How can I access my account?*

    Hello,

Does this problem occur specifically when you try to sign in to your Microsoft account in the OneNote app on iOS?

This issue may be related to the Wi-Fi network you are using. Please try the following steps:

    1. Restart your router, reconnect to the same Wi-Fi network, and try verifying your identity again. If you still have issues,
    2. Connect to a different network, such as a mobile hotspot, and check whether you can sign in successfully using the Authenticator method.

Microsoft is moving away from SMS verification, so you may not receive a verification code by phone. So, you may be prompted to use another verification method, such as Microsoft Authenticator or a passkey.

If you can sign in to your Microsoft Account online, visit the Security settings page and confirm that you have multiple methods available to verify your identity.

If both the authenticator code path and text-message verification are showing as unavailable, use the recovery and alternate verification paths in this order:

    1. Try another verification method on the sign-in screen.
      • Select Use a different way to sign in, Show more verification options, or I don't have any of these if those options appear.
      • If another email or verification method is already attached to the account, use that instead of SMS.
    2. Avoid repeated retry attempts.
      • Repeated code requests can trigger a temporary block.
      • Microsoft notes that unusual activity, too many requests, or traffic from a risky location can temporarily stop code delivery.
    3. Change network and wait.
      • Switch between Wi‑Fi and cellular, or try a different Wi‑Fi network.
      • If the account is temporarily blocked, wait at least 24 hours before trying again. In some cases, it can take longer, up to 1 week.
    4. Use the Microsoft sign-in helper.
      • For sign-in issues, use the Sign-in Helper tool. It checks the account details provided and guides the recovery steps.
    5. If the issue is loss of access to security methods, replace security info.
      • During sign-in, at Verify your identity, select I don't have any of these.
      • Follow the prompts to replace security info.
      • If all security info is replaced, there is a 30-day wait before sign-in is allowed again.
      • If at least one existing method is still accessible and the password is known, sign in to the Advanced security options page, add a new way to sign in or verify, confirm it with a code, then remove the old method.
      • Do not change all security info at once unless necessary, because that can restrict the account for 30 days.
    6. If Outlook mobile is already set up for the account, use it for a one-time code.
      • Open Outlook mobile.
      • Go to Home > Settings > Accounts > select the account > Sign-in requests.
      • Copy the one-time passcode and paste it into the sign-in page.
      • For personal accounts, this is supported in Outlook for Android.
    7. If verification codes still do not arrive, another method or recovery is required.
      • Support agents cannot send verification codes or change account details.
      • If needed, use Contact Microsoft Support from the support flow for available support options.
