After the Microsoft Defender Antivirus update - KB2267602 (version 1.459.576.0) on October 6, 2026, the antivirus definition updates via Windows Update no longer work. You have to either force the update manually from the antivirus settings or wait for the antivirus to update through other internal processes.

Apparently, many other people are experiencing the same issue.

For example, today Microsoft Defender Antivirus - KB2267602 (version 1.459.601.0) should have been released via Windows Update, but something is wrong with that KB it's no longer updating or is not populating into Windows update servers on Microsoft
