My one drive application is using around 1GB of RAM out off 8GM of RAM, so to reduce the RAM usage and to resolve unknown errors i have reset the one drive, since two days the one drive is struck at we are Resetting the one drive, downloading 101 files (0.00kb) and using up 1.2GB of RAM, which is hurting performance of other applications, i want to resolve this issue

Since this has continued for two days and is affecting your other applications, I suggest checking the actual sync progress before repeating the reset.

Your screenshot shows “0.0 KB remaining (100%)”, which refers to the displayed amount remaining, not the download speed. It also lists a recently downloaded file. This does not confirm that the reset has finished, but it means the screenshot alone cannot establish whether all syncing has stopped.

Please select “View online” and check whether your latest local files and edits are available there. Before further troubleshooting, save a separate copy outside the OneDrive folder of any locally edited files that are not up to date online. Do not delete the existing OneDrive folder.

If you have not restarted Windows since the reset, save your work and restart the computer. Then open Start, search for OneDrive, and launch it if it does not start automatically. Windows 11, OneDrive version: Build 26.178.0913.0006 (64-bit), the count has stayed at exactly 101 files for two days, my latest edits appear online, i am syncing over 2.5lakhs files via SharePoint libraries

Thanks for confirming. The reset command you used matches Microsoft’s instructions. Since your latest edits appear online, those changes are reaching SharePoint, although the unchanged counter and reset message still need investigating.

The number of files is an important detail. Microsoft recommends syncing no more than 300,000 items overall for optimum performance, and notes that performance issues can occur across multiple synced libraries, even when not all their contents are selected. “Over 2.5 lakhs” means over 250,000 files, so this does not establish that you have exceeded that recommendation or that the file count is the cause. Before another reset or reinstall, I suggest testing with fewer libraries:

Choose a large SharePoint library that you do not currently need in File Explorer. Confirm its recent changes are available online and copy any unsynced local work to a separate folder outside OneDrive.

If the library appears separately under OneDrive Settings > Account, select Stop sync next to that library. Do not delete its files. You can continue accessing the library through SharePoint in your browser.

Check whether the reset message, the 101-file count, and OneDrive’s memory usage change after reducing the number of synced items.

Microsoft explains the Stop sync option in Sync SharePoint and Teams files with your computer. This test can help determine whether the amount being synced contributes to the problem; it is not a guaranteed fix.

A stuck reset usually means the OneDrive client did not recover cleanly after the reset. The supported next steps are:

Reset OneDrive again.
- Press Windows + R.
- Run: %localappdata%\Microsoft\OneDrive\onedrive.exe /reset
- If Windows cannot find it, run: C:\Program Files\Microsoft OneDrive\onedrive.exe /reset
- If that also fails, run: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft OneDrive\onedrive.exe /reset
If OneDrive still stays on “We are resetting” or keeps showing 0.00 KB, reinstall OneDrive.
- Reinstalling OneDrive is a documented next step when reset does not resolve sync problems.
- Reinstallation also resets all OneDrive settings and triggers a full sync again.
Expect a full resync after either action.
- Resetting or reinstalling OneDrive resets all OneDrive settings.
- OneDrive performs a full sync afterward.
- Files and data are not lost by resetting OneDrive on the computer, but sync connections are disconnected and must reconnect.

Important notes for the current situation:

High memory use during a stuck reset is consistent with the client being stuck in a sync/reset state.
Resetting does not delete cloud files.
