Outlook Mobile (iOS & iPadOS) Gives a Red Warning Triangle for OneDrive Sync

OneDrive connectivity is working fine within the standalone apps (i.e., user ID & password are OK), yet I always get a red triangle in Outlook mobile on both my iPhone 17 Pro and iPad Pro. The error only appears in Settings, where the OneDrive files are under "Apps" and "All Apps" in the bottom system tray links.

I've tried resetting, deleting the connection, and nothing will remedy it.

It's the current verion, updated 5 days ago, 5.2638.0 (iOS), and iPadOS (5.2638.0).

    Hi, @Scott Griffiths

Since OneDrive works normally in the standalone app on both devices, this appears to be isolated to Outlook Mobile.

Have you already tried Outlook’s own "Reset Account" option? This is different from removing and re-adding the OneDrive connection.

    In Outlook:

    • Tap your profile picture > Settings.
    • Select your email account.
    • Tap "Reset Account."
    • Force close Outlook, then reopen it.

If you have already done that, please try this on one device first:

    • Make sure Outlook and iOS/iPadOS are fully updated.
    • Delete the Outlook app.
    • Restart the iPhone or iPad.
    • Reinstall Outlook from the App Store.
    • Sign back in and then reconnect OneDrive under "Apps" / "Files."

If the red triangle immediately returns after a clean reinstall, what exact message appears when you tap the OneDrive entry or the red triangle?

    Thanks!

    Hi, @Scott Griffiths

Have you already confirmed that Outlook, iOS, and iPadOS are all fully updated?

I checked Microsoft’s current Outlook Mobile known issues, and there is no listed known issue specifically for the red warning triangle on the OneDrive connection in Outlook: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/support/known-issues/fixes-or-workarounds-for-outlook-mobile-apps

Since OneDrive works normally in the standalone app on both devices, and you have already reset and removed/re-added the connection, this appears to be isolated to Outlook’s OneDrive integration.

If everything is updated, please report it through Outlook directly by tapping your profile picture > ? > Contact Outlook Mobile Support. Microsoft recommends the in-app support option for Outlook iOS app-specific problems:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/get-in-app-help-for-outlook-for-ios-and-android

Also, what Outlook version and iOS/iPadOS versions are currently installed?

Click "Add comment" to let me know.

    Thanks!
