At least 2-3 times a week I have issues with Teams for Mac client. When I try and connect to a Teams conference call, the microphone and sound all becomes very distorted. Zoom, Chime and Google Video Chat all work 100% only Teams client fails. I have even switched over to the Web interface and this works fine. I have quit Teams using the Force Quit command, and then restarted the client, and still the same problem. The only remedy is to reboot my Mac. I thought perhaps this was due to Updates being auto loaded, but I have tried turning these off, both on MacOs and Office for Mac level (turned off all updates). The problem still persists. This is VERY annoying as up until about 3 months ago I only rebooted my Mac about 1-2 times per month, now I have to do it almost every day. I am running MacOs Catalina 10.15.7 and Teams is fully updated to latest release.

Does anyone else have the same issue in your organization?
Have you tried to change another device to test it? What about in another applications?
Do you have the same issue in your Teams web client?

I have a similar issue on Mac I'm running MacOS Venture 13.4. When on the teams call, my colleagues have stated that my voice becomes distorted and continuously repeats the last word, resulting in them having in mute me as a result. This has had about four times this week.

I have this issue with the latest preview version of Teams 23335.208.2601.834 and MacOS Sonoma 14.2.1. This has been the case for several months so I don't think either of these versions indicates that there is a faulty release recently. I have to toggle my microphone from my headset to a mic on the display, and then back again. Mostly this fixes the problem with just one switchover but then the problem reappears some time later.

I had the New Teams installed on my Mac Book Pro (OS Ventura 13.6.3) yesterday and since then I am not able to use the New Teams with a headset as I get distorted audio. I have tried multiple headsets and it doesn't seem to be isolated to the headset. I can toggle to the Teams classic and use my headset and have no issue. Any suggestions are appreciated

Been using the new version of teams and it actually hasnt occured over the past day, will report back if the issue returns. Version 23335.208.2601.834 (23335.208.2601.834) on macOS 14.1.2 (23B92)

I've had the same thing happen and don't know the cause, but I did find a workaround:
Go to ... > Settings > Devices
Then toggle "Automatically adjust mic sensitivity" (it doesn't matter what it is set to -- just needs to be toggled)
You can use "Make a test call" to test it.
** This is only a temporary fix -- the problem keeps coming back **
This does temporarily fix the issue, this indicates that this is a Teams bug
Thank you, @David Tao I will try your suggestion.

I have this issue; while the above didn't solve the problem for me, I have a solution below. Note that the internal Mic works with web app version of teams, and all other apps, but not Teams Classic.
I solved the problem by
