Why are not there windows server 2022 patchs in WSUS?

Question

Why are not there windows server 2022 patchs in WSUS?

Yuto Umeda 26

I use WSUS in Windows Server 2019.

In this WSUS console, there are not category "Windows server 2022" in product and classification page.

So I do not use windows server 2022 patchs.

Why are not there windows server 2022 patchs in WSUS console?

SO every 6 months I have to go into WSUS and find the next version? 21H2, 22H1, 22H2? This seems really stupid.

I just checked my WSUS and I see:

Microsoft Server operating system - 21H2

Microsoft Server Operating System - 22H2

Which actual OS does each of those target? Why would there not be a Server 2022 product like there is for every other product?

Thanks for your posting on Q&A.

As far as I know, we could get the hotfixes of windows server 2022 by selecting the following Products and Classifications.
Product: Microsoft Server operating system-21H2
Classification: Security Updates

Please try to tick the above products and classification and sync on the WSUS server. Then we could confirm whether we could get the hotfixes.

Hope the above will be helpful.

I tried to tick the above products and classification and sync on the WSUS server.
But Windows Server 2022 category does not exist in Products and Classifications page.

Is there no category named "Windows Server 2022" in WSUS like "Microsoft Server operating system-21H2" in your picture?

Thanks for your response.

According to this link, Windows Server 2022 and windows 10 21H2 have the same core of the Operation System. So both updates will be included in a new category named "Microsoft Server operating system-21H2"

Here is the update history of the Windows Server 2022 and please refer to the link to patch the servers as usual.

Unfortunately I'm on Windows 2019 Server. So there are no upgrades for older OS?

No. What you're looking for is only achievable when updating the WSUS Server's OS.

If you are using WSUS standalone without SCCM (ConfigMgr), this is the best opportunity to get a preview version of the new WSUS product and work directly with the product team.

Microsoft plans to update WSUS with new features per the Tweet from Gabe Frost. You can be part of the preview deployment of the new WSUS version.
