Clear the cached OneDrive credentials from macOS Keychain, then reopen the latest OneDrive client and sign in again; this is the supported Mac recovery path when old app versions or credentials may be involved.

Clear the old OneDrive sign-in information

    1. If OneDrive opens, select the OneDrive cloud icon in the macOS menu bar.
    2. Select Help & Settings → Preferences → Account → Unlink this Mac.
      • If OneDrive does not open or this option is unavailable, continue to the next step.
    3. Open Spotlight Search, enter Keychain Access, and open it.
      • Alternatively, open Finder → Applications → Utilities → Keychain Access.
    4. Search for OneDrive.
    5. Delete OneDrive Cached Credential.
    6. Use Spotlight to open OneDrive, enter the Microsoft account associated with your OneDrive, and sign in.
    7. If informed that the OneDrive folder already exists, select Use this folder. Unlinking and relinking does not delete the files stored in OneDrive.^1^

    Update the OneDrive client

Error 8000ded7 is not listed in Microsoft’s published OneDrive error-code guidance, so it should not be treated as the similarly named 0x8004def7.

Install the current OneDrive for Mac client from Microsoft’s OneDrive download page, then open it through Spotlight and sign in. Microsoft recommends updating to the latest client for general OneDrive sign-in failures.^2^

If two OneDrive versions are installed—such as the standalone and Mac App Store versions—remove the older one before reinstalling. Microsoft does not support running those two versions side by side.^1^

    If sign-in still fails

Determine whether this is an account problem or a Mac-client problem:

    • The account works in a browser: The account itself is accessible. Test the Mac on a mobile hotspot; if that works, the usual network may have a firewall, VPN, or provider restriction blocking OneDrive.^3^
    • The account also fails in a browser: Use the Microsoft account sign-in helper. For a work or school account, contact the organization’s IT administrator or service desk.^3^
    • Work or school account only: Ensure that the work or school address is used rather than a personal Microsoft account. If authentication succeeds but OneDrive remains blocked, the organization’s administrator must check the account and access policies.^3^

Do not delete the local OneDrive folder during this process. If files are needed immediately, access them through OneDrive on the web while repairing the Mac client.
