If email works on the laptop but not on the mobile device, the account itself is not fully unavailable. The supported steps are:

    1. Check whether the mobile app is asking for the password again.
      • On iPhone or iPad: Settings > Mail > Accounts > select the Outlook account.
      • If Account not authenticated appears, open Account Settings or the Password field, enter the current Microsoft account password, then tap Done.
      • Open the Mail app and confirm mail sync and sending work again.
    2. If the Outlook.com account was temporarily blocked because of unusual sign-in activity, reset the password to unblock it.
      • Outlook.com accounts can be temporarily blocked after unusual sign-in activity.
      • To unblock the account, reset the password.
    3. If the password is correct but sign-in still fails, recover the account:
      • Enter the email address, phone number, or Skype name used to sign in.
      • Choose where to receive the security code.
      • Enter the code.
      • Set a new password.
    4. Avoid repeated code or recovery requests.
      • Excessive or repetitive requests can cause Microsoft to temporarily stop sending verification codes.
    5. Check whether mailbox or cloud storage is full.
      • If Outlook.com mailbox or Microsoft cloud storage is full, sending and receiving email can stop.
    6. If sign-in still does not work, use the Microsoft account sign-in helper or the Outlook.com support options.
