Select Work or school account for the @premierplastering.biz address; the two entries can represent separate personal and business identities that happen to use the same email address.
Microsoft does not document a specific meaning for code 48v35 in the available official guidance, so treat the duplicate identity and Outlook failure as separate issues.
1. Identify which account is failing
- Close Outlook.
- In a private or InPrivate browser window, open the Microsoft 365 sign-in page you normally use.
- Enter the full
@premierplastering.biz email address.
- If asked “Which account do you want to use?”, select Work or school account, not Personal account.
That prompt means the same address exists as both:
- a Microsoft 365 work or school account, created for the business; and
- a personal Microsoft account, possibly created previously for another Microsoft service.
These accounts cannot be merged, although they can coexist.^1^
Do not post the complete email address, password, or verification codes publicly.
2. If browser sign-in works but classic Outlook still shows 48v35
This points to a local Outlook/Office sign-in-state problem rather than an inaccessible Microsoft 365 account.
- Close Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, and other Microsoft 365 apps.
- Open Windows Settings → Accounts → Email & accounts.
- Under Accounts used by other apps, remove the unintended personal or duplicate account only. Do not remove the business account Windows actually uses.
- Restart Windows.
- Open Get Help from the Start menu.
- Search for sign in to Microsoft Office and complete the Microsoft 365 sign-in troubleshooter on that PC.^2^
- Reopen Outlook and authenticate with the Work or school identity.
If Outlook still fails, create a fresh Outlook profile without deleting the existing one:
- Close Outlook.
- Open Control Panel → Mail (Microsoft Outlook) → Show Profiles.
- Select Add, enter a profile name, and add the business email.
- Select Always use this profile, choose the new profile, and select OK.
- Start Outlook and test it before removing the old profile.
A new profile preserves the old one while rebuilding Outlook’s account configuration.^3^
3. If browser sign-in also fails
Ask the Microsoft 365 administrator for the business to check:
- the exact Microsoft 365 username;
- whether the account is blocked;
- whether an Exchange/Outlook license is assigned;
- the failed sign-in record.
An administrator with at least Reports Reader access can use Microsoft Entra admin center → Entra ID → Monitoring & health → Sign-in logs, filter by username and Failure, and inspect the failure reason, error code, and correlation ID.^4^
4. Permanently remove the duplicate-account prompt
If the second entry is a personal Microsoft account that also uses the business address:
- Sign in specifically to the Personal account.
- Open Manage how you sign in.
- Add another personal email address or create an Outlook.com alias.
- Select Make primary for that new alias.
This changes the personal account’s sign-in name without changing the Microsoft 365 business mailbox.^1^ If that personal account is tied to subscriptions or developer services, check those dependencies before changing its primary alias.
