    Hi Bernie,

You would have to contact Support again

and give them the case #.

We here on the forum have no access to

    case #'s.

To resume the disconnected support request, reopen Get Help, choose Contact Support, and give the agent case number 7111359929; if the original session cannot be restored, the agent can use that number to locate the existing request.

    Reconnect with Microsoft Support

    1. Open Start, type Get Help, and open the app.
    2. Enter: Reconnect to existing Windows support case.
    3. Select Contact Support when offered.
    4. Choose Windows and the closest Devices and drivers option, then select Confirm.
    5. Choose either:
      • Chat with a support agent in your web browser, or
      • Provide your phone number and a support agent will call you.
    6. Provide case number 7111359929 and explain that the session disconnected while removing Brother drivers and software.

Contact methods depend on the product, scenario, subscription, and operating hours. Microsoft documents the full Get Help contact procedure here: ^1^. If Contact Support is unavailable, use Microsoft’s support contact page and select Get help under technical support ^2^.

This Microsoft Q&A forum cannot access or reconnect a private support case directly.

Remove the Brother printer, software, and drivers

Disconnect the Brother printer’s USB cable first, or turn off a network printer temporarily. Otherwise, Windows can rediscover it and reinstall its driver immediately ^3^.

    Use this order:

    1. Remove the Brother software
      • Open Settings → Apps → Installed apps.
      • Search for Brother.
      • For each Brother application, select … → Uninstall and complete its prompts. Windows documents this uninstall path for desktop applications ^4^.
    2. Remove the printer
      • Open Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners.
      • Select the Brother printer.
      • Select Remove ^5^.
    3. Remove the device and its driver in Device Manager
      • Sign in with an administrator account.
      • Search for and open Device Manager.
      • Select View → Show hidden devices.
      • Expand Printers, Print queues, and any relevant imaging category.
      • Right-click each Brother entry and select Uninstall device.
      • If offered, select Delete the driver software for this device, then confirm.
      • Restart Windows.

The option to delete driver software might not appear without administrative privileges ^3^.

If the Brother package remains in the driver store

Deleting the wrong driver package can disable another device. Create a restore point first, then open Command Prompt as administrator and list third-party packages:

    pnputil /enum-drivers

Find entries whose provider is Brother and record each exact Published Name, such as oem42.inf. Remove only the confirmed Brother package:

    pnputil /delete-driver oem42.inf /uninstall

Repeat only for other packages clearly identified as Brother, then restart. PnPUtil is built into Windows and supports enumerating and deleting driver-store packages ^6^. Windows Update can reinstall a missing driver later if it determines the device needs it ^3^.
