If the webcam image is grainy or blurry on a Lenovo IdeaPad 5, isolate whether the problem is the camera hardware, Windows, or the app:

    1. Test the camera in the Windows Camera app. Open Start > Camera and check the preview.
      • If it looks bad there too, the issue is not limited to one app.
      • If it looks fine there, the issue is likely in the video app settings.
    2. Check for a Lenovo privacy feature blocking or altering the camera feed.
      • Open Lenovo Vantage.
      • Find the camera or privacy settings.
      • Turn off camera privacy mode.
      • If supported, press the camera privacy shortcut key, often F8, to toggle it.
      • Then test again in the Windows Camera app.
    3. Make sure the correct camera is selected if using Teams or another app that supports virtual cameras.
      • Open the app’s video settings.
      • If a virtual camera is selected, switch to the built-in physical camera.
    4. Check for Windows and camera driver updates.
      • In Windows 10 guidance: Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for updates.
      • If View optional updates appears, check for camera-related updates.
      • Restart after updates install.
      • To update the camera driver manually: Start > Device Manager > expand Cameras > right-click the camera > Update driver > Search automatically for drivers.
    5. If the camera is detected only intermittently or stops working, try Basic camera driver mode.
      • Open Settings in Windows.
      • Go to the camera settings for the device.
      • Open Advanced camera options.
      • Enable Basic camera driver mode.
      • Restart Teams or the camera app and test again.
      • Note: this can disable some manufacturer camera features, but may improve reliability.
    6. Clean the camera lens and make sure it is not physically blocked.

If the image is still grainy or blurry in both the Windows Camera app and other apps after updates, lens cleaning, and privacy checks, that points to the integrated camera module, lens, or manufacturer image processing rather than an app setting.

    Hi ,

Check if you have access to "Video Options" within Lenovo Vantage.

Does this only happen with a specific application?

Go to Device Manager (you can find it via the search bar), locate the camera section, take a screenshot, and post it here.

Search for msinfo32.exe in the search bar, take a screenshot, and post it here so we can see the correct laptop model or desktop configuration.

    Thanks
