my "Chat" on the top right side of all pages used to do photo editing. Now it won't accept JPEG images to be downloaded. Has something changed? Or is there a link to upload a newer version?

    Hi Leslie Andrade,

Just to confirm, are you referring to the Copilot panel that opens from the upper-right corner of Edge while viewing webpages or are you using Copilot in a regular browser tab? When you try to add the JPEG, is the upload option missing completely or does it appear and show an error?

If possible, please try the same image in a regular Copilot browser tab. If it uploads there but not through the upper-right panel, that would suggest the issue is limited to the Edge panel. You can also check for an Edge update by entering edge://settings/help in the address bar, then restart the browser and try again.

These details should help narrow down whether this is a change in the Edge panel or a broader image-upload issue.

Use Copilot Create → Edit an image rather than the Chat/Copilot button in the upper-right corner of Edge; the Edge button opens a browser assistant, while photo editing is now documented through the dedicated Create experience.^1^^2^

    Edit your JPEG

    1. Open Microsoft 365 Create.
    2. Sign in with the Microsoft account associated with your eligible Microsoft 365 subscription.
    3. Select Edit an image. If it is not visible, select More… → Edit an image.
    4. Select + Add an image → Upload from device, and choose the JPEG.
    5. Select Edit →.
    6. Apply tools such as crop, background removal, enhancement, filters, text, object erasing, or adjustments.
    7. Select Save and copy in the upper-right corner when finished.^2^

There is no separate “newer version” to install for the top-right Edge chat. Copilot in Edge is built into the browser and is primarily documented for chatting about and summarizing webpages, videos, and PDFs.^1^

If you want to edit through a normal Copilot conversation

In a Copilot chat that displays the upload control:

    1. Start a new conversation.
    2. Select + → Add images or files.
    3. Choose the JPEG.
    4. Enter an instruction such as “remove the people in the background” or “change the setting to a forest.”^3^

JPEG is still an officially supported attachment format. Each file must be no larger than 50 MB, and a conversation supports up to 20 files. If that conversation has reached 20 attachments, start another conversation.^4^

If the Edge panel does not display + → Add images or files, that indicates that particular Copilot surface is not offering the upload workflow. Open the dedicated Create page above instead; reinstalling a separate Edge Copilot version is not required.

Some image-editing capabilities require an eligible Microsoft 365 subscription, and capabilities or usage limits for Personal, Family, Premium, and Pro subscriptions can change over time.^2^
