Favourites menu remains on screen after clicking on a meny item

I'm using Microsoft Edge Version 156.0.4314.58 (Official build) (64-bit) and in the last two days I've found that the favourites menu remains on screen after I've clicked on a menu item (eg. Facebook). I haven't updated Edge or Windows since this started happening, or altered any settings. It means that I have to manually close the menu by clicking on the 'x' at the top right of the menu bar every time I choose a menu entry. Is this a know fault and/or can anyone help me to find a way to stop it happening?

This is not a reported fault in Edge.

    1

    Close Edge.

    Open the Settings App.

Go to Apps - Installed Apps.

Scroll down to find Edge, select Edge, then choose Modify - Repair.

Then check if that resolves the problem.

    2

If that does not resolve the problem, download the Edge installer form this link and use the installer to reinstall Edge on top of the existing Edge installation.

Unfortunately, the 'modify' option for Microssoft Edge in 'installed apps' is greyed out therefore cannot be chosen, and downloading the installer from https://explore.microsoft.com/en-us/edge/download?form=MA13FJ and installing Edge on top of the existing Edge installation did not resolve the problem.
