Startups: Companies that are in their initial stages of business and typically developing a business model and seeking financing.
Activate the benefit with the exact new personal Microsoft account used to register for Microsoft for Startups; if that identity is already correct, Microsoft must review the Azure account eligibility or startup-entitlement binding.
1. Verify the account bound to the startup registration
Creating a new personal Microsoft account is not sufficient if a different account was used for the startup registration or LinkedIn verification.
- Sign out of every Microsoft account in the browser.
- Sign back in with the same personal Microsoft account used when registering ChefStack.
- Open the startup dashboard and select Unlock $200 in Azure credits.
- During Azure signup, ensure:
- Country/region matches the billing address.
- Name, address, and phone are accurate.
- Cardholder and billing information are consistent with the payment provider’s records.
The current offer requires a new eligible personal Microsoft account. Work/school accounts are unsupported, and an account previously associated with Azure Free Trial, Azure for Students, another startup program, or another promotional offer is ineligible.^1^
If the account used to register for Startups is not the intended new account, do not create another registration blindly. Request correction of the entitlement owner/account binding through Program Support, which explicitly handles startup-credit activation and entitlement ownership issues.^2^
2. Effect of the previous Azure for Students subscription
The previous Azure for Students subscription disqualifies the same Microsoft account from this current offer. It does not, by itself, establish that a genuinely separate new personal Microsoft account is ineligible.^1^
However, only Microsoft Support can determine whether the new account is being associated with previous Azure identity, phone, payment, or entitlement records. In the support request, ask for an Azure signup eligibility and Microsoft for Startups entitlement review, rather than asserting that a backend flag is definitely the cause.
Also confirm that activation is still within 90 days of accepting the program agreement; after that period, the offer expires and reapplication is required.^1^
3. Escalation when “Get program support” is missing
Startup-credit activation is within Microsoft for Startups Program Support’s scope. The only publicly documented route is:
Azure portal → Program Overview → Overview → Your Microsoft Team → Get program support.^2^
Because that control is absent in your dashboard:
- Preserve the existing case; do not publish its number or account details on Q&A.
- If another Azure Portal support request can be created, open it using ? → Help + support → Create a support request.
- Categorize it as an account/subscription signup or eligibility problem, not as a charge dispute.
- Include:
- Existing case number and submission date.
- Exact error text and UTC timestamp.
- Session/correlation IDs.
- Screenshot of the activation error.
- Screenshot showing that Your Microsoft Team / Get program support is absent.
- The email domain only—not the full address—in public discussion.
- Confirmation that the activation account is a new personal MSA and is the same MSA used for startup registration.
- Confirmation that Azure for Students belonged to a separate MSA.
- Request:
“Please investigate the Azure signup eligibility block and Microsoft for Startups entitlement-owner binding. The documented Program Support control is absent. Please identify the appropriate escalation path if this case cannot be handled by the Azure account team.”
A generic Azure support case is only a fallback for account-eligibility investigation; the documentation does not guarantee that it will be transferred to Program Support. No separate public email, telephone, or private Program Support channel is documented when the dashboard control is unavailable.
Since incognito mode has already been tested, repeating browser or cache troubleshooting is unlikely to add useful evidence. Account identity, offer eligibility, and entitlement binding are the remaining discriminating checks.
