Updates are mandatory and cannot stop. But after updates I cannot access network computers after installing updates.

It has been observed that we cannot escape from updates. It is mandatory. It changes the settings. Tally license does not work. We have to surrender it and reinstall the license again. After updating, network sharing stops. Not sure how to come out of the problem. Everytime we have to uninstall updates and then only networking starts. Is there any other way to avoid all those problems?

    Hi There,

Windows updates should not normally require you to reinstall your Tally license or repeatedly remove updates to restore network sharing. This may indicate a network configuration, firewall, or Tally License Server connectivity issue following the update.

    I recommend the following steps:

    1. Identify the problematic update: Go to Settings → Windows Update → Update history and note the KB number of the update after which the issue occurs.
    2. Check network sharing: Ensure your network is set to Private, and that Network Discovery and File and Printer Sharing are enabled under Advanced sharing settings.

Check Windows Firewall: Verify that Tally and Tally License Server are allowed through the firewall on the appropriate network profile.

Check Tally licensing: If you use a network license, confirm that the Tally Gateway Server service is running and that client computers can reach the license server.

Manage updates carefully: You can temporarily pause updates while investigating, or use update-management policies to test updates on a small group of computers before deploying them widely. Avoid permanently disabling security updates.

    Useful documentations for reference:

    Pause Windows updates

To investigate further, could you confirm your Windows version (Windows 10 or 11), the KB number of the update causing the issue, and the Tally license error message, if any?

This information will help determine whether the problem is caused by a specific Windows update, firewall configuration, or Tally licensing service.

Thank you for choosing Microsoft Q&A.
