I am really angry at Microsoft. Since yesterday, every website I have tried to, I have been getting the following error message several times:

Error 403 - Forbidden

The web app you have attempted to reach has blocked your access

I updated and restarted my computer and still got this error message. Then I closed Microsoft Edge and relaunched. I am still getting the error message. Please fix it.

A 403 response means the website or web app is refusing the request, so first test whether Edge’s stored site data or extensions are triggering the block before repairing the browser.^1^

Since updating, restarting, and relaunching did not help, proceed with these new checks in order.

    1. Test an InPrivate window

    1. In Edge, select Settings and more (…) → New InPrivate window.
    2. Open one of the affected websites without signing in initially.

InPrivate removes stored cookies and site data when its windows close.^2^

    • If the website works: the likely issue is ordinary-window cookies, cached data, or an extension. Continue with steps 2 and 3.
    • If it still fails: skip to step 4.

    2. Clear Edge’s stored browsing data

This signs you out of websites if cookies are selected.

    1. Select Settings and more (…) → History → Open history page.
    2. Select Delete browsing data.
    3. Set Time range to All time.
    4. Select Cookies and other site data and Cached images and files.
    5. Select Clear now, then reopen the affected website.

Microsoft documents clearing cached data as a fix for webpage-loading problems.^3^

    3. Isolate extensions

    1. Enter edge://extensions in the address bar.
    2. Turn off every extension.
    3. Test an affected website.
    4. If it works, re-enable extensions one at a time until the 403 returns.

Extensions can read and change website data. Their access can also be restricted through Extensions → Manage extensions → Details → Site access.^4^

    4. Determine whether Edge or the network is being blocked

    Test the same website:

    • In another browser on this PC.
    • On a phone connected to the same Wi-Fi.
    • On the phone using mobile data instead of Wi-Fi.

    Interpret the result:

    • Only Edge fails: continue to step 5.
    • Every browser fails on this PC, but the phone works on Wi-Fi: check VPN, proxy, antivirus, or web-filtering software on the PC.
    • Every device fails on Wi-Fi but works through mobile data: the block is associated with the network or public IP address. Disconnect any VPN or proxy, then contact the router/network administrator or Internet provider.
    • Only one website fails everywhere: contact that website’s support team because its server is denying access. Microsoft also recommends another-browser testing to distinguish an Edge issue from a network or website problem.^3^

    5. Repair Edge if only Edge is affected

Repair should not affect Edge’s browser data or settings.

    1. Close Edge for every signed-in Windows user.
    2. Open Start → Settings → Apps → Installed apps.
    3. Find Microsoft Edge, select its menu, and choose Modify.
    4. Approve the administrator prompt.
    5. Select Repair while connected to the Internet.^5^

If Modify is unavailable, Edge is likely managed by an organization; contact its IT administrator. If repair finishes but Edge alone still receives 403 responses, use Settings and more (…) → Help and feedback → Send feedback, and include the affected sites and whether they work in InPrivate or another browser.^3^

    Hello,

To help narrow down the cause, could you please check the following?

    1. Does the same error occur when accessing the affected websites using another browser? If you only have Microsoft Edge installed, open Microsoft Store, search for "browser", and see if you can find another browser such as Mozilla Firefox to test with.
    2. Do you get the same error when accessing those websites from a smartphone connected to the same Wi-Fi network?
    3. If you disconnect your smartphone from Wi-Fi and use mobile data instead, can you access those websites normally?

These checks will help determine whether the issue is related to Edge, your PC, or your network connection.

    Thank you.
