Its super annoying because low-key I just want to find ideas for my art elective and don't even say "just go to Google images" because all I see when I go on there is the gray background with a teal blocked symbol. I just want to get on Pinterest!! Its not that hard! I've tried every proxy websites at school but apparently Pinterest on a proxy site doesn't work. And every YouTube hack does NOT work!! I think its because its Lightspeed and its so frustrating. Someone please help me!!!

    Hi BROOKE ROBINSON,

I understand that this is frustrating when Pinterest is needed for a school assignment. However, the restriction is being enforced by Lightspeed or your school’s Chromebook policies, not by Microsoft Edge, so Edge settings cannot remove it.

I cannot provide instructions for getting around a school security filter. A practical option is to give your teacher the direct link to the specific Pinterest content you need rather than requesting access to the entire site. The teacher or school IT team can then decide whether that individual page can be approved.

You may also ask whether the assignment can be completed using a personal device or a different approved source, provided that doing so is allowed by your school. Please note that this is a user-to-user support forum. Moderators, contributors including external Microsoft employees cannot directly intervene in Microsoft product features or access back-end systems. My role is limited to providing technical guidance on reported issues, requests, or ideas.

I know this isn't the news you were hoping for, but I wanted to make sure you got the most accurate information about your situation. Thank you so much for your understanding.

A Lightspeed block on a school-managed Chromebook cannot be bypassed through Microsoft Edge or a supported Chromebook setting; ask your teacher or school IT team to allow Pinterest specifically for the art assignment.^1^

Proxies and “unblock” tricks are not an appropriate workaround, and attempting to disable the filter could violate school policy. Since those methods already failed, use the authorized exception process:

    1. Show the block page to your art teacher.
    2. Explain which assignment requires Pinterest and how long access is needed.
    3. Ask the teacher to:
      • submit an allow-list request to school IT, or
      • adjust the class’s Lightspeed web rules during the art period, if your school uses that feature. Lightspeed Classroom rules can be applied while a teacher’s class session is active.^2^
    4. If Pinterest cannot be approved, ask the teacher for an approved visual-reference site or for a curated Pinterest board exported into the school’s learning platform.

    A useful request would be:

Pinterest is blocked by Lightspeed on my school Chromebook. I need visual references for [assignment name] in my art elective. Could Pinterest, or the specific board/page I need, be reviewed and temporarily allowed during class? The block appears on every Pinterest page.

Only the school or district administrators have the permissions needed to change Lightspeed’s filtering rules or add an exception.^1^
