Enable Game Bar’s background recording, keep the game focused for at least 30 seconds, and then press Win+Alt+G; error 0x82323007 means the capture operation did not stop within its allotted time, rather than indicating a storage-space error.^1^
Because repair/restart and service changes did not help, test the capture pipeline itself:
- Start the affected game and leave it running.
- Click inside its window so that it is the foreground application.
- Press Win+G.
- Select Settings → Capturing.
- Enable Record in the background while I’m playing a game.
- Under Settings → General, enable Remember this is a game, if that option appears.
- Close Game Bar, actively play for at least 30 seconds, and press Win+Alt+G.
Background recording is required to capture gameplay that already happened, and Microsoft’s capture documentation specifically requires the application to be marked as a game and kept in focus.^2^
Do not leave the Broadcast User Service or Game DVR capture functionality disabled while testing; those changes work against the feature being restored.
Isolate background capture from all recording
Test a normal recording:
- With the game focused, press Win+Alt+R.
- Play for 15–30 seconds.
- Press Win+Alt+R again.
- Check Videos → Captures for the resulting MP4 file.^3^
Interpret the result:
- Normal recording works, but Win+Alt+G fails: the problem is confined to the background/recent-gameplay buffer.
- Both fail: update or reinstall Game Bar before investigating the individual game.
Update or reinstall Game Bar
Since Repair has already failed, skip repeating it:
- Open Microsoft Store → Library → Get updates.
- Install updates for Xbox Game Bar, the Store, and related Xbox components.
- Restart Windows and retest.
- If it still fails, open Microsoft Store → Library, locate Xbox Game Bar, and reinstall it. Microsoft’s Windows 11 Store-app procedure recommends updating Windows and Store apps before reinstalling the affected app.^4^
Also test another game. If clipping works there, the issue is specific to how the original game is being detected or presented. For that game, try Borderless Window or Fullscreen, keep it focused, and repeat the 30-second test.
Only if Windows is an “N” edition
Check Settings → System → About → Windows specifications → Edition. If it says Windows 11 N:
- Open Settings → Apps → Optional features.
- Select View features beside Add an optional feature.
- Find and install Media Feature Pack.
- Restart the PC even if Windows does not prompt for it.
- Update or reinstall Xbox Game Bar from Microsoft Store.
Windows 11 N excludes media technologies that affect Game Bar and Game DVR; Microsoft documents the Media Feature Pack as the restoration path.^5^
There is no published Microsoft notice establishing 0x82323007 as a general Windows 11 known issue. If it continues in every game after these steps, report it through Feedback Hub → Report a problem, include the code, and use Recreate my problem while reproducing the failed Win+Alt+G capture.
