My Microsoft account is in a Microsoft Family group. I do not recognize the organizer and cannot leave the family group because I am not the organizer. How can I contact Microsoft account support to resolve this?

    Hello,

Unfortunately, only the Organizer of the family group can add or remove members (for both adult/child accounts).

    For reference, see

If you are unable to contact the family organizer to remove your account from the family group, you may need to contact Microsoft Support. -

    Go to this page: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/home/contact

    • Type Talk to an agent then click Get Help.
    • At the bottom of the page click Contact Support. Sign in to your Microsoft account if needed.
    • Select Other Products then Account Profile questions then Confirm.
    • Click Chat with a support agent in your web browser.

Contact Microsoft Support through live chat because a family member without the Leave family group option cannot remove themselves; only an organizer can add or remove members.^1^

    Contact Microsoft account support

    1. Open Contact Microsoft Support.
    2. Enter Talk to an agent, then select Get Help.
    3. Scroll to the bottom and select Contact Support.
    4. Sign in with the affected personal Microsoft account if requested.
    5. Select:
      • Product: Other Products
      • Category: Account Profile questions
    6. Select Chat with a support agent in your web browser.^2^
    7. Tell the agent:
      • Your account is listed as a family member.
      • You do not recognize or cannot contact the organizer.
      • Leave family group is unavailable.
      • You want the unfamiliar family-group association investigated.

If those category names are different in your region, choose the closest Microsoft account, account profile, or Family Safety category. Microsoft’s current guidance is to enter the problem, select Get Help, and then choose Contact Support to receive the available support options.^3^

Support may require identity or account-ownership verification. Agents are not permitted to send password-reset links or directly access and change account details.^3^

    Important consequences

Removal from the family group does not delete your Microsoft account, but it can end access to products or services shared by that family, including a shared Microsoft 365 Family subscription.^1^

Because you do not recognize the organizer, also review your Microsoft account’s recent sign-in activity and security information, then change the password if you find activity you do not recognize.
