    Hi Mark,

You do not need to "download" OneDrive to a file first. The simplest method is to copy the files directly from your personal Microsoft account to your business Microsoft 365 account.

    1. Install the OneDrive Sync Client if it is not already installed.
    2. Sign in to OneDrive with your personal account.
    3. Sign in to OneDrive with your business account at the same time.
    4. In Windows File Explorer, you should see two OneDrive locations:
      1. OneDrive - Personal
      2. OneDrive - Your organization name
    5. Copy or drag the files and folders from the personal OneDrive to the business OneDrive.
    6. Leave the computer powered on until synchronization completes.

This method preserves folder structures and is often the easiest approach for large numbers of files.

If your OneDrive contains a large volume of data, such as hundreds of gigabytes or tens of thousands of files, and you would prefer live assistance, please contact Microsoft Support and request guidance with the account-to-account migration process through the Microsoft 365 Admin Center. A support engineer can walk you through the available migration options and help ensure your files are transferred successfully. Here are some tips for creating support tickets more effectively:

    • Go to Microsoft 365 admin center > Support > Help & Support.
    • Turn off the "Support Assistant" feature.
    • Use the keyword "Support" to quickly bypass automated suggestions > Select Contact Support.  User's image
    • In the ticket description, please provide a clear and detailed explanation of the issue. You may also attach relevant screenshots or screen recordings.
    • Additionally, sharing your preferred contact times can help the support team handle the case more efficiently.

I hope this information is helpful. If you have any questions or need further support, please don’t hesitate to reach out at any time.

Because GoDaddy manages the new Microsoft 365 subscription, contact GoDaddy’s 24/7 live chat and ask the agent to help activate the new business OneDrive before copying the files.

    Connect to live support

Open the official GoDaddy Contact Us page and select Chat Now. The page also lists:

    • Phone: 1-480-366-3550
    • Text: 1-480-908-8665

    These options are available 24/7.^1^

    Tell the agent:

“I have Microsoft 365 from GoDaddy and need help transferring files from my personal OneDrive to the OneDrive for my new business-domain account.”

    GoDaddy’s Microsoft 365 help center also provides subscription-specific setup and sign-in assistance.^2^

Transfer the OneDrive files on Windows

The personal and business accounts cannot be merged; their storage remains separate. They can, however, both be added to the OneDrive app so files can be copied between them.^3^

    1. Select the OneDrive cloud icon in the Windows notification area.
    2. Select Help & Settings (gear) → Settings → Account.
    3. Select Add an account.
    4. Sign in with the new GoDaddy-managed Microsoft 365 business address.
    5. Open File Explorer. You should now see two locations:
      • OneDrive – Personal
      • OneDrive – organization name
    6. Open the personal OneDrive folder, select the required files and folders, and choose Copy.
    7. Open the business OneDrive folder and choose Paste.
    8. Leave the computer connected until the OneDrive cloud icon reports that syncing is complete.
    9. Sign in to the business OneDrive in a browser and verify that the transferred files open correctly.

Microsoft’s business migration guidance confirms that files can be moved by syncing both accounts to the device and copying between their OneDrive folders.^4^

Keep the originals in the personal account until everything has been verified. Existing sharing links and permissions do not transfer automatically and must be recreated.^5^

If the sync app is unavailable

Download the files from the old OneDrive through a browser, sign in to the new business OneDrive, and select Upload → Files or Upload → Folder.^6^

Do not cancel the old subscription or remove its files until the upload has completed and the files have been checked in the new account.
