If the console was set as the purchaser’s Home Xbox, anyone who signs in to that console should be able to play the purchaser’s digital games and durable add-ons without the purchaser being signed in.
A circle with a line through it usually means the other account does not currently have usable access to that content. Based on the supported sharing rules, check these points:
- Verify the correct console is set as the purchaser’s Home Xbox:
- Open Settings > Personalization > My home Xbox on the purchaser’s console.
- The friend’s console must be the purchaser’s Home Xbox for offline-style sharing to work there.
- If trying on a console that is not the purchaser’s Home Xbox:
- The purchaser must be signed in and connected to Xbox services.
- On a non-Home console, other users only have access while the purchaser is signed in.
- If the purchaser signs out, the shared license is lost and the game becomes unusable.
- If the game shows “Do you own this game or app?” with 0x803f8001:
- That indicates the account launching the game does not currently have the required license on that console.
- This happens when the console is not the correct Home Xbox, or when the owner is not signed in on a non-Home console.
- Check whether the content is a consumable add-on:
- Consumables are not shared between accounts.
- Games and durable add-ons can be shared, but consumables cannot.
- If the issue is specifically with installing or finding games on Xbox:
- Go to My games & apps > Ready to install.
- For automatic installs, use Settings > System > Updates & downloads > Keep my games & apps up to date.
If the console is already the correct Home Xbox and the games still show as unavailable, use Xbox support for installation or console-sharing troubleshooting.
