Azure for Students verification failing for every school: "Unable to confirm your University ID" (school-lookup API returns empty)

I'm trying to activate Azure for Students with my university account (mavs.uta.edu) and hitting "Unable to confirm your University ID" on signup.azure.com/studentverification.

I dug into this and the root cause is on Microsoft's side: the page's school-lookup endpoint (GetSchoolsByCountry) returns an empty array for every school/country combination I tried, not just mine. I tested dozens of combinations (US/Harvard, US/University of Texas at Arlington, GB/Oxford, IN/India, CA/Toronto, etc.) via direct calls to the API and every single one came back empty, so the "School name" dropdown always clears itself and verification can never complete, regardless of which school you attend.

This matches many other unresolved reports on this forum from students at different universities, posted over the past several months, with no official fix so far.

What I've already tried, all hitting the same error:

  • The public consumer offer at azure.microsoft.com/free/students
  • My university's own institutional "Azure for Education" app (reached via UTA's SSO portal)
  • The GitHub Student Developer Pack redemption link (aka.ms/azure4students), which no longer performs any GitHub-Azure connection and just forwards to the same broken verification page
  • Opening a support ticket in the Azure portal, blocked because the account has no subscription yet to open a ticket against

Could someone from the Azure for Students team take a look at the school-lookup service, or advise another path to get verified/activated? Happy to provide session IDs and timestamps if that helps track this down.
