Hi, I’d suggest trying Microsoft’s standalone OneNote installer. This has helped another user with the same Store error.

Close OneNote and any open Office apps.

Open the Microsoft page below >> select Download OneNote >> run the downloaded installer:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/onenote/install-or-reinstall-onenote-for-windows

Once installed, sign in with the account you use for your notebooks. Keep your existing OneNote app until you’ve confirmed your notes are available.

Repair or reset Microsoft Store, retry the OneNote installation, and—if the Store still returns 0x00000643—install OneNote through Microsoft’s desktop installer instead.

    Repair the Microsoft Store

Microsoft does not document 0x00000643 as confirming a specific outage or root cause, so use the supported Store-repair sequence:

    1. Install Windows updates
      • Open Start → Settings → Windows Update.
      • Select Check for updates, install everything offered, and restart Windows.
    2. Update Microsoft Store
      • Open Microsoft Store → Library → Get updates.
      • Allow any Microsoft Store update to finish.
    3. Repair Microsoft Store
      • Open Start → Settings → Apps → Installed apps.
      • Find Microsoft Store, select … → Advanced options.
      • Select Repair.
      • Reopen Store, ensure you are signed into your Microsoft account, and retry OneNote.
    4. Reset Microsoft Store if Repair did not work
      • Return to Microsoft Store → Advanced options.
      • Select Reset, confirm it, and restart the computer.
      • Open Store, sign in again, and retry the installation.

These are Microsoft’s supported Windows 11 steps for Store application failures.^1^

    Bypass the Store when applicable

If Microsoft Store still fails and you use Microsoft 365 or Office 2019, install the supported desktop version of OneNote directly:

    1. Download OneNote.
    2. Double-click the downloaded installer.
    3. Let Setup detect and match the 32-bit or 64-bit version of your existing Office installation.
    4. When installation completes, start OneNote and sign in with the account associated with Microsoft 365 or Office.

Microsoft documents this installer for OneNote for Microsoft 365 and OneNote 2016/Office 2019.^2^ For a work- or school-managed Office installation, the administrator may need to make OneNote available.

Check that the correct OneNote is being installed

Use OneNote on Windows, identified by a File menu at the top. The older OneNote for Windows 10 reached end of support on October 14, 2025 and is now read-only; it is also unavailable in Microsoft Store to new users.^3^

If migrating from the older app, synchronize every notebook before removing it. Unsynced local changes will not automatically appear in the current OneNote application.

If both the repaired Store and the applicable desktop installer fail, record the installer’s complete message and check Settings → System → About → Windows specifications for the Windows edition, version, and OS build; those details are needed to distinguish a Store-only failure from a broader Windows installation problem.
