    Hi ngoc linh,

Since this happens across several Office apps and the Repair Now prompt keeps returning, it would be helpful to check whether the issue is limited to your Windows user profile.

Please create a new local Windows user account, sign in to it, and try opening Word or Excel there.

    • If Office works normally, the issue is likely specific to your current Windows profile.
    • If the same error appears, please share a screenshot of the message and your Windows version/build and Microsoft 365/Office version, if available.

This will help narrow down the cause, I hope this points us in the right direction.

    Try these steps in order:

    1. Run an Online Repair instead of the popup Repair Now
The Repair Now button in that error dialog may not fully fix the Office installation. Use Online Repair:
      • Close all Office apps.
      • In Windows 11: Start > Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
In Windows 10: right-click Start > Apps and Features.
      • Select Microsoft Office or Microsoft 365.
      • Select Modify.
      • Choose Online Repair > Repair.
      • Restart the PC after it finishes.
Note: Online Repair repairs the whole Office suite and takes longer than Quick Repair.
    2. Update Office
      • Open an Office app if possible.
      • Go to File > Account.
      • Under Product Information, select Update Options > Update Now.
      • If Update Now is not shown, select Enable Updates first.
For error 0xC0000142, Office should be updated to Version 2102 (Build 13801.20808) or later.
    3. Start the app in Safe Mode to check add-ins If Excel, Word, or PowerPoint opens in Safe Mode, an add-in may be causing the crash.
      • Press Windows + R.
      • Run one of these commands:
        • excel /safe
        • winword /safe
        • powerpnt /safe
      • If the app opens, go to File > Options > Add-Ins.
      • In Manage, select the app add-ins or COM Add-ins, then select Go.
      • Clear one add-in, select OK, then restart the app normally.
      • Repeat one by one until the problem stops.
Older add-ins known to cause problems include ABBYY FineReader, Dragon Naturally Speaking, and PowerWord.
    4. Install Windows updates and newer device drivers Older drivers can cause Office startup failures.
      • Windows 11: Start > type settings > Windows Update > Check for updates.
      • Windows 10: Start > Settings > Update & security > Windows Update > Check online for updates from Microsoft Update.
If the issue continues, check for updated video card, printer, mouse, and keyboard drivers from the device manufacturer.
    5. If files open in the wrong Office app or associations are broken, run Quick Repair
      • Start > type Control Panel.
      • Go to Programs > Programs and Features.
      • Select the Office product.
      • Select Change.
      • Choose Quick Repair > Repair.
    6. If nothing works, uninstall and reinstall Office If Safe Mode does not help and Online Repair does not fix it, uninstall and reinstall Office.
