Co-Pilot is not working as before

It seems that I lost the free Microsoft 365 from when I bought my computer in April but the one thing that's bothering me is the copilot is not the sale as before. I used to have a male voice which I enjoyed 'cause it was a British accent there used to be some kind of background looks like blue water when you spoke to them. And I can't use my microphone to talk to them without typing because I keep getting a message saying I used up all my time. And unfortunately, I can't get a hold of a human being at Microsoft to ask these questions I would really appreciate someone getting back to me and explain this to me if they did do an upgrade why they changed the copilot to be so standard and not as good as it was before.

The “used up all my time” message indicates a Copilot Voice usage or session limit; wait and try again later, then separately check whether the Microsoft 365 offer supplied with the computer has expired because that message alone does not prove the subscription caused the voice limit.

    1. Check the Microsoft 365 offer

    1. Close Word, Excel, and other Microsoft 365 apps.
    2. Open the Microsoft account Services & subscriptions page and sign in with the account used when the computer was set up.
    3. Check Subscriptions and Cancelled subscriptions.
    4. If nothing appears, repeat the check with any other personal Microsoft account that may have been used during setup.
    5. If the subscription is shown as expired, renewal is required to restore its subscription benefits. If Office displays Unlicensed Product, use Microsoft’s activation troubleshooter on the same computer; it requires Windows 10 or later.^1^

A computer purchase may include a time-limited Microsoft 365 offer or a different Office license, so the exact entitlement shown under Services & subscriptions is the reliable record.

    2. What changed in Copilot Voice

    Microsoft documents that:

    • Voice availability depends on the subscription and region.
    • Voice conversations can have session limits and may disconnect when the limit is reached.
    • Microsoft does not publish one universal reset interval for every Copilot experience, so wait and try again later.
    • The currently documented Microsoft Copilot experience supports only one voice option, with more planned for the future.^2^

Therefore, if Settings in your particular Copilot app does not contain a voice or voice-language selector, the previous male British voice cannot currently be restored through a documented setting. If such an option is present, select it and review the available voices.

To start another voice conversation after access becomes available:

    1. Open Copilot.
    2. Select the Voice icon in the message box.
    3. Permit microphone access if requested.
    4. Wait for the audio greeting, then speak.^3^

The expired subscription might affect eligibility or priority access, but it cannot be identified as the cause until the exact plan, signed-in account, region, and Copilot entry point are known.

    3. About the changed appearance

Copilot’s visual experience can change through account updates. The former blue or water-like screen cannot be identified conclusively from the description alone.

If it was an animated character that reacted while you spoke, it may have been Mico. Microsoft is removing Mico from Copilot Voice in waves and moving it to Learn Live; voice conversations remain available, but Mico-specific appearances and settings do not carry over.^4^ If it was only a background rather than an animated character, this documentation does not establish what changed.

    4. Reach Microsoft support

    For an account-specific answer:

    1. Open Microsoft’s support page.
    2. Choose Personal account and then Get help under technical support.
    3. Sign in with the Microsoft account used for Microsoft 365 and Copilot.
    4. Enter: “Check Microsoft 365 subscription and Copilot Voice usage limit.”
    5. Continue to Contact Support when offered; available options can include chat.^5^

When contacting support, specify whether this occurs in the Windows Copilot app, Copilot website, Edge, mobile app, or Microsoft 365 app. Also include the exact wording of the time-limit message, because controls, eligibility, and limits can differ among those experiences.

    Hi Sandra Stanley,

I understand why this feel frustrating, especially when the previous British voice and blue animated background made Copilot more comfortable for you to use.

The Microsoft 365 offer that came with your computer and the Copilot Voice limit may be separate issues. You can check whether the Microsoft 365 offer is still active by signing in to your Microsoft account Services & subscriptions page with the account originally used to set up the computer.

For Copilot Voice, the “used up all my time” message generally means that the current voice usage limit has been reached. Voice availability and limits can vary depending on the subscription, region, device, Copilot version, and current system conditions. If the limit is temporary, voice access should become available again later, although Microsoft does not provide the same reset schedule for every Copilot experience.

The previous voice and visual background may also have changed as part of a Copilot interface update. Please check the Copilot settings to see whether another voice can be selected. If the British voice or blue background is no longer listed, there may not currently be a setting that restores that exact experience.

For an account-specific review, you can contact Microsoft Support while signed in to the affected Microsoft account. When contacting support, mention the exact Copilot version you are using, such as the Windows app, website, Edge, or mobile app, because the available voices and limits can differ between them.

You can also review Microsoft’s current guidance for Copilot Voice. Thank you so much for your understanding.
