Azure App Service is a service used to create and deploy scalable, mission-critical web apps.
Azure App Service Easy Auth returns HTTP 500 after successful sign-in
I’m troubleshooting a Linux Azure App Service running Python 3.12 with built-in Authentication (Easy Auth) v2. The app is shown as running, but after successful Microsoft Entra sign-in and multifactor authentication, the platform-managed authentication callback returns HTTP 500.
The Authentication v2 configuration shows authentication enabled, unauthenticated requests requiring authentication, and Microsoft Entra configured as the identity provider. However, the built-in Easy Auth diagnostic says Easy Auth is not enabled, reports two HTTP 401.71 responses for unauthenticated requests, and reports no warnings or errors. That result does not explain the callback failure. The available application log folder has no useful entries, and the resource does not advertise an AppServiceAuthenticationLogs diagnostic category. No new logging has been enabled.
Is there a supported, no-cost way to correlate this callback failure using existing App Service or Entra diagnostics? What non-sensitive request or correlation details should be collected? Is the 401.71 detector result expected for unauthenticated probes when authentication is enabled?
